How to Play Barre Chords (Beginner-Friendly Steps)
Barre chords are mostly about position and small adjustments—not brute force.
Step-by-step
- Place your index finger slightly on its side (bony edge, not the soft pad).
- Bring the thumb behind the neck for support (don’t squeeze like a clamp).
- Use the arm to “pull” the guitar slightly into your finger.
- Build the chord from the top strings first, then add lower strings.
